Laxette of the Week 11.12.10
I’ll start by saying I’m super sorry for not getting a laxette up on monday. But don’t worry it will be made up for sure. On to the task at hand, talkin up this girl Kayla from Lynchburg College. Kayla plays d-wing (which I recently found out is basically a defensive middie for us dudes) so she’s got her shit together. As a mid I know how rough it is and being a d-wing is nothing but the hardest working girls out there so you can just imagine the tenacity (that’s a word right?) in the chick. Her favorite part about lax is the feeling you get when you know you’ve done something to help out your team. This is a new one for a laxette. Never really looked at the game like that but now that I do I tots do the same thing when I have a dirty clear or something that leads to a goal. Kayla also manages to play club field hockey for Lynchburg along with varsity lax.
What really means the world to this laxette is her siblings, quote: ‘they are by far my favorite people’. She is the oldest of five so she’s gotta play the good big sister role (my big sister sucked as a role model..yeah I’m looking at you Alison. being mean and bitchy doesn’t get me anything.). She is doing this by working hard at school with a major in broadcast journalism and a minor in business marketing. When she’s not doing school work she likes to play lax, field hockey and hit the gymm (her words not mine). As for professional sports she just happens to like Pittsburg. Her favorite NFL team is the Steelers and NHL team the (dare I say) Penguins. Whiiichhh, fun fact, happened to blow a 4-2 lead going into the 3rd to the Brew Crew and ended up with a 7-4 loss…you’re welcome. After every things said and done Kayla’s a chick who’s got her shit together and don’t mess around. Making her one of my recovery girls for fucking up earlier in the week.
