ALLENDALE, MI – The Grand Valley State University Men’s Lacrosse Club has hired Joey Coretti for the 2012-13 lacrosse season. Coretti, a recent graduate from Roanoke College, will coach the attack for the upcoming season and will assist in the offensive game plans and management.

“We are excited to add a coach with such a high level of lacrosse experience, knowledge and understanding of the game,” head coach Tim Murray said. “[Coretti] is really going to push us to become a better, more efficient team on the offensive end of the field.”

Grand Valley State led the MCLA D-II in scoring each of the last two seasons, advancing to the semifinals in 2011 and the championship game last season. The Lakers have compiled a 37-3 record during that span.

Coretti is a graduate of East Grand Rapids High School (MI), where he was an All-American attackman and two-time state champion before heading to Roanoke. At Roanoke, Coretti tallied 92 goals and 12 assists during his career as a Maroon. Coretti was an All-ODAC Honorable Mention selection as a senior, and was named the ODAC Player of the Week on April 2 this past season.
